Basel, March 30, 2019 Dear Colleagues, We are enclosing a poster announcing the opening of the Summer Call 2019 for the Biozentrum PhD Fellowships, inviting motivated and dedicated students to join the Biozentrum Basel International PhD Program. These fellowships are unique because students can select any Biozentrum research group through rotations. The rotation-based system gives students the broad knowledge and skills needed in modern biology and is particularly well suited for students who have very broad interests or come from fields such as physics, chemistry or computer science. Moreover, this fellowship gives students full and independent funding for their entire PhD and grant additional travel funds. With our new director, Alex Schier, former Chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Harvard University, our team of first-class faculty members and our new and enthusiastic new faculty members covering diverse fields: • • • Flavio Donato - Neurobiology Susan Mango - Developmental Cell Biology Médéric Diard - Infection Biology a new and exciting era has started for the Biozentrum and we are all looking forward to the upcoming move to a brand-new building (see image above).
