Programme features Interdisciplinarity is a key to progress and innovation in science. Approaches that transcend narrow disciplinary boundaries and a wide variety of scientific methods open up new horizons for research. – Get started in interdisciplinary research with the international Summer School 2023 at the German Sport University Cologne, the interdisciplinary research institution for sports science in Germany. Survey lectures The aim of this event is to train you as young researchers in a wide variety of methods in sports science and to inspire interdisciplinary approaches. We want to provide the impetus: For you to develop your own interdisciplinary research questions, projects and collaborations as sports scientists and even beyond the borders of our disciplines. The heart of the Summer School will be introductive lectures and in-depth workshops by and with our GSU scientists. Our experts from the broad spectrum of sports science – from training studies to sports medicine, from psychology to sports management, from sports history to movement culture – will acquaint you with the latest interdisciplinary approaches and research discourses in plenary sessions. In small workshop groups you can deepen what you have learned: Through the practical application of specific sports science methods to answer interdisciplinary research questions. A cultural and sporting social programme will complete the event. The event is targeted at Master students, PhD candidates and early career postdoctoral researchers.
