Scope The technique of Diffusive Gradients in Thin-films is increasingly being used in a wide range of environments, including soils, natural waters and sediments, to measure trace metals, phosphate, sulphide, radio-nuclides and other determinants. This first international DGT workshop in China will focus mainly on applications, including relevance to bioavailability and environmental monitoring. A day will be devoted to lectures by international leaders in the field and by Chinese researchers who have already made progress in using DGT. There will be an optional training day in the use of DGT, which will be conducted in Chinese. It will include practical demonstrations on the use of DGT and explanations of calculation procedures and data interpretation. International Committee Prof. William Davison (LEC, Lancaster, UK) Dr Hao Zhang (LEC, Lancaster, UK, Chair) Dr Paul Williams (LEC, Lancaster, UK) Prof. Yongguan Zhu (IUE CAS, China, Co-Chair) Dr Peter Teasdale (Griffiths, Australia) Dr Yue Gao (VUB, Belgium) Local Organising Committee Dr Chao Cai Dr Jian Qiang Su Mr Gang Li Call for posters Abstract submission for poster presentations will be open until June 1, 2010. This will be followed by invited contributions by several Chinese groups who are actively using DGT. The training day will be run in Chinese by accomplished practical exponents of DGT: Hao Zhang, Yue Gao and Hao Cheng, supported by an expert in ICPMS: Paul Williams. Lectures on essential theory, calculations and interpretation, will be interspersed with practical demonstrations, including gel casting, assembly, field deployment and analysis.
