For the last 60 years, the teams of excellent scientists in CAS have contributed greatly to Chinese scientific programs and international cooperation in science and technology. On this ground, CAS has become the linchpin of China’s drive to explore and harness high technology and natural sciences for the benefit of China and the rest of the world. Expanding a comprehensive research and development network, CAS brings together excellent scientists and engineers from China and around the world to address both theoretical and applied problems using world-class scientific and management approaches. Furthermore, CAS puts emphasis on international cooperation by establishing productive partnership with various entities such as research institutes, universities and corporations around the world. The academy also works on joint research centers, partner groups, research projects, conferences, diverse training programs and personnel exchanges. Regarding the relationship with KAST, CAS and KAST have cooperated for many years with the intention of promoting S&T since both academies signed the Memorandum of Understanding in 1998. In addition, CAS is a member academy of the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) whose Secretariat is hosted by KAST. Once again, I would like to congratulate you on this Anniversary and wish the Chinese Academy of Sciences all the best in fulfilling its future goals and look forward to our continued partnership over the years to come. With best wishes, Prof. Sung Hyun Park President The Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST)
