Students study the development of Korean politics, economics, society, and culture from ancient times to modern day, enabling them to understand Korean cultural traditions through broad historical perspectives from Oriental to Western history, field investigations of historical remains, and on-thespot practical training. CREATIVE WRITING MAJOR DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF JAPANESE DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCES Students are asked to primarily write stories based on their insight. The objective is to create vivid stories by reorganizing and reinventing various aspects of life. Students can also learn creative writing skills from all genres through courses such as poetry, creative novel writing, understanding comedy writing, and movies & novels. The Department of English has an established curriculum which helps students enhance their English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, with a focus on fluency in English speaking skills. In addition, it has intensified courses for students which teach them to freely utilize the English language in international society. The Department of Japanese has programs helping students research and analyze information written in Japanese and improve their Japanese speaking abilities. In particular, most students possess the JLPT level-1 speaking ability and have obtained a score over 280 in the Japanese university entrance examination. As the world becomes one, cooperation and competition among nations continue to expand its borders. To meet these changes, the Department of International Business offers a well-organized curriculum on the globalization of business with courses including International Business and Economics, International Business Strategy, Business Management of Global Companies, and Practical Trade. In particular, it allows students to contribute to the development of Korean culture and economy by helping them acquire an understanding of unique and various French ways of thinking and culture. The Department of German educates its students to be able to effectively communicate with German native speakers in speaking and writing through well-structured German courses. In addition, it allows students to acquire a general knowledge of German culture and art with a variety of courses on German-speaking regions in the world. The Department of Chinese helps its students to obtain basic Chinese speaking, reading, and writing skills and educates them to understand the lives of Chinese people and Chinese philosophies, so that students may better understand the Chinese language. Students of the Department of Social Welfare can learn comprehensive counseling techniques based on the understanding of children, human development, and family, so that they may help individuals and families to flourish without any problems. In addition, the Level 2 Certification of Social Workers is awarded to all students upon graduation. The department also fosters professionals of dietary life management by teaching students the complete process of food consumption. With over 20 years of tradition, the Department of Health Sciences has pursued the improvement of public health and welfare. The department provides intensive courses as well as basic courses such as public health management, public health information, and environmental health management, so that students can develop their careers in various fields. The Department of Computer Science offers intensified and specialized educational programs including several courses in data processing, while continuously providing updates on its curriculum based on technological developments and market situations, so that students can learn the skills desired by system development companies.
